ผักหนอก (ภาคเหนือ), ผักแว่น (ภาคใต้), กะโต่
Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.
อยู่ในวงศ์ผักชี (APIACEAE หรือ UMBELLIFERAE)
พืชล้มลุก สูง 6 – 10 ซม. มีไหลทอดเลื้อย ออกรากตามข้อ ใบ เป็นใบเดี่ยว แตกจากบริเวณข้อ รูปไตถึงรูปแผ่กลม กว้าง 1.5 – 3 ซม. ยาว 1.3 – 3 ซม. ปลายใบกว้าง ฐานใบเว้ารูปหัวใจก้านใบยาว 1 – 4.5 ซม. ดอก สีม่วง ออกเป็นช่อกระจุกกลมตามซอกใบหรือตรงข้ามกับใบ ก้านช่อดอกยาว 4 – 8 มม. ดอกย่อยขนาดผ่านศูนย์กลาง 3 – 4 มม. กลีบเลี้ยงโคนเชื่อมกัน ปลายแยก 5 แฉก กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ รูปรีกว้าง เกสรผู้ 5 อัน ติดอยู่ระหว่าง กลีบดอก ก้านชูเกสรเพศเมีย 2 อัน ผล ลักษณะกลมแบนแยกเป็นสองซีก สีเขียว ขนาด 3 – 3.5 มม. แต่ละซีกมีหนึ่งเมล็ด
ใบสด - ใช้เป็นยาภายนอกรักษาแผลเปื่อย แผลไฟไหม้น้ำร้อนลวก โดยใช้ใบสด 1 กำมือ ล้างให้สะอาด ตำละเอียด คั้นเอาน้ำทาบริเวณแผลบ่อย ๆ ใช้กากพอกด้วยก็ได้ แผลจะสนิทและเกิดแผลเป็นชนิดนูน (keloid) น้อยลง สารที่ออกฤทธิ์คือ กรด madecassic, กรด asiatic และ asiaticoside ซึ่งช่วยสมานแผลและเร่งการสร้างเนื้อเยื่อ ระงับการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อแบคทีเรียที่ทำให้เกิดหนองและลดการอักเสบ มีรายงานการค้นพบฤทธิ์ฆ่าเชื้อรา อันเป็นสาเหตุของโรคกลากปัจจุบันมีการพัฒนายาเตรียมชนิดครีมให้ทารักษาแผลอักเสบจากการผ่าตัด น้ำต้มใบสดดื่มลดไข้ รักษาโรคปากเปื่อย ปากเหม็น เจ็บคอ ร้อนใน กระหายน้ำ ขับปัสสาวะ แก้ท้องเสีย
